Located in the heart of Nob Hill on the corner of Carlisle and Central in the historic Nob Hill Shopping Center, Scalo offers an atmosphere that is casually elegant and service which is attentive and knowledgeable. Scalo uses locally grown organic produce and offers classic handmade Northern Italian cuisine with a seasonal menu that changes with the harvests.

Utilizing French techniques, Scalo infuses creations with a Mediterranean sensibility that calls for fresh ingredients paired in inventive ways. With a mixture of the boldest combinations from the roasted beet salad with chevre and popped spices to superb Panko Fried salmon filets Scalo created a menu that ends up making sense on the tongue. Instead of the traditional division of appetizers, soups, salads, and entrees, Scalo's menu is divided into small, medium and large plates that encourage people to share, to mix and match, to eat as little or as much as they want. When dining at Scalo you don't have to get attached to any one dish.

With modern interpretations of traditional Northern Italian recipes, Scalo earns Best Italian honors from many sources, including citysearch.com and earned Best Restaurant from the popular Zagat Guide. The airy and lively bar serves the full spectrum of classic and new cocktails, with an emphasis on attentive service and a convivial scene. Scalo's wine list places our Italian producers front and center with a great range of well-known and little-known-but-notable reds and whites. Not content to promote only the world's greatest wine country, Scalo also selects and stocks labels from all those other wine-producing countries like France, Australia and the US!

Never afraid of being great, we also are not afraid of giving great value. Dinner entres start in the low-teens for house made pastas and top out in the low-twenties for grilled meats and fresh fish. And we still give a free salad with every main course.

Seating is available in the Main Dining Room, the mezzanine overlooking the dining room, the front of the restaurant or outdoors in a covered or an open patio.

Directions: From the "Big I" where Interstate 25 crosses Interstate 40, go east on I-40, exit Carlisle south. Continue south on Carlisle past Indian School Rd, Constitution, go straight when crossing Lomas Blvd. Scalo Northern Italian Grill is in the historic Nob Hill Shopping Center on the southwest corner of Carlisle and Central Ave. Parking is metered on the street with a small lot on the back of the shopping center.
